National Science and Technology Support Program Project - Key Technologies and Demonstration of Pest Biological Control in Regional Agricultural Ecosystems

1. Project Objectives

        With the goal of improving the quality and yield of agricultural products in the entire region, reducing pollution, increasing farmers' income, and promoting sustainable agricultural development, the regional agricultural ecosystem is taken as the research object, and the pest control and benefit protection capabilities of various crop layouts in typical regional agricultural ecosystems in China and the optimized agricultural production structure model are determined. Key technologies for biological control of all important pests in the region and their technical integration are proposed, and typical agricultural ecosystem pest biological control demonstration bases are established in South China, North China and East China, respectively, to reduce the use of chemical pesticides and lay the foundation for regional agricultural production structure adjustment, green food and organic food production.

2. Project Contents

        Based on the development trend of pest biological control technology at home and abroad, starting from solving the needs of regional major pest biological control, on the basis of existing technical research accumulation, with the construction of representative regional important pest biological control demonstration bases as the goal, innovative research is carried out. This project is divided into two categories and 6 topics.

Research on common technologies for the first category of projects

        Project 1: Key technologies for natural regulation of crop pests in agricultural ecosystems

        Research the control effects of crop variety layout and species diversity on pests in regional agricultural ecosystems, screen crop resistance combinations, propose key technologies for regulating pests using plant secondary compounds, apply and demonstrate on a large scale in representative agricultural ecosystems in China, establish corresponding technical specifications, and provide a basis for the establishment of regional pest biological control models.

        Project 2: Key technologies for the selection, industrialization and application of dominant natural enemy insect germplasm resources

        For representative regional agricultural ecosystems in China, screen out natural enemy insect species with strong pest control capabilities, develop key technologies for mass reproduction, industrialization and application of several natural enemy insects, and establish demonstration bases and corresponding technical specifications.

        Project 3: Key technologies for the improvement of insecticide microbial preparations and their coordinated application

        Screen and improve practical insecticide microbial preparations, develop key technologies for the short-term and long-term efficacy of insect pathogenic microorganisms in controlling field pest populations, and key technologies for coordinated application in the same ecosystem, and demonstrate and promote them in representative regional agricultural ecosystems.

Second category of topics: Regional technology integration demonstration

        Topic 4: Establishment and demonstration of pest biological control model in South China, mainly rice

        , fruit and vegetables. Study the population dynamics and migration and diffusion laws of important pests and their natural enemies in rice, fruit trees and vegetables in the region, establish a pest biological control model in South China, mainly rice, fruit and vegetables, and demonstrate and promote it.

        Topic 5: Establishment and demonstration of pest biological control model in North China, mainly

        cotton, wheat and corn. Study the occurrence laws of important pests and their natural enemies in cotton, wheat and corn ecosystems in the region, as well as the diffusion and migration characteristics of important pests and natural enemy insects between different crops, overcome the key technologies for protecting and utilizing natural enemies, and construct a biological control technology application model that mainly uses ecological regulation technology, and demonstrate and promote it.

        Topic 6: Establishment and demonstration of pest biological control model in East China, mainly

        rice, vegetable and tea. Through the coordination and comprehensive integration of pest biological control technology, a new regional multi-pest integrated biological control model in East China, mainly rice, vegetables and tea trees, is established, and biological control technology specifications are formulated, and demonstrated and promoted.
